Securing and Shielding your Knees for SALLAH
Knee pads differ from each other with closures – if they are sleeve type knee pads, they may have no closures, but if they are adjustable knee pads, they may have closures for wrapping or adjustable straps with Velcro or buckle closures. We all know traditional knee pads which are fixed on knees with sleeves, Velcro closures or straps, but there are other types of knee pads too – kneeling pads, rolling knee pads and knee inserts.
Straps or bands are meant for decreasing of anterior knee pain which is usually caused by ageing, Arthritis and osteoporosis by applying pressure to the patellar tendon and relieving the stress on anterior knee.
Repeat Step 3 with the other kneepad. Stand up and make sure they’re both secure and they won’t slide down. It’s also important to make sure you’re comfortable and your knees will still bend. If you happen to fall, you’ll need to make sure you are able to fall onto your knees.
Take a small test run in your kneepads by doing the activity you’re planning. This will allow you to find out if the kneepads are comfortable enough to skate or bike in. If they hurt your knees, readjust them until they’re comfortable.
Don’t use the Knee Pads with Ihraam:
A man in the state of Ihram must not tie any knots or wear any stitched items. Sandals and flip flops must not be stitched either and should allow the ankle and back of foot to be exposed. So while in Ihraam knee pads are prohibited to use.
